On 15th May, the Cumbria-Argentina Methodist Partnership Team met by Zoom!

Together we shared greetings from friends in Argentina at this time of Covid19 and these were greatly appreciated. You-Tube worship from Methodists in Argentina, and reflections and prayers we have seen on Facebook, have also been helpful and inspiring. It is good to know we can share our experiences of life and of God’s love across the world!

We are aware that you have experienced restrictions, as we have, with several weeks of ‘Lockdown’. But it has been good to see ways in which you continue to care for those in need, for example by preparing and distributing food.

We admire your many celebrations of ‘Methodist Day’ on 24th May!

We think that Covid19 has not been so widespread in Argentina as in UK, where many people have died, but we note an increase in numbers in recent days. We hope the gradual ending of the ‘lockdown’ will make good progress, and that there will not be an increase in people getting Covid 19 as restrictions are eased. In UK restrictions are being eased but people are very impatient!

We all miss seeing friends and family but we are grateful we have the Internet which, of course, also means we can communicate with you!

We are sorry that exchange visits this year have had to be postponed; we hope and pray that in 2021 they can resume. We have much to look forward to!

For now, we hold you in our love and prayers, grateful for all that our partnership means to all of us.

We pray the words from Romans: ‘May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him’

Many blessings to you all.

Rev Dr James Tebbutt, Irene McKay, Glenda Clark, Martin Dodds, Steve Morris, Deacon Maggie Patchett and Ray and Joan Wager
