Our mission statement

The South Lakes Methodist Circuit exists

  • to serve God; Father, Son and Holy Spirit by increasing awareness of his presence and mission and declaring His generous love;
  • to do all that it can to support the local Churches in their work by open hearts, open minds and open doors;
Looking ‘up’ to God, increasing awareness of God, listening to God’s voice in our worship and action.
Doing this through:
    • High quality, relevant worship
    • Encouraging prayer and fellowship across the circuit
Looking ‘around’ to the circuit churches, enabling them to share gifts, skills and resources - working together with one another and in partnership with other Churches wherever possible.
Doing this through:
    • Encouraging active involvement in the ‘God for All’ initiative and Churches Together groups.
Looking ‘in’ to ourselves, enabling Christian living and learning that builds confidence in faith.
Doing this through:
    • Supporting locally based teaching and training
    • Challenging complacency and prejudice
    • Promoting opportunities for nurturing and encouragement, such as small groups
    • Intentional caring and sharing within and beyond our communities
Looking ‘out’ to the world, supporting and encouraging intentional sharing of faith, and looking for new opportunities to do this. Seeking to make the good news of Jesus relevant in today’s world.
Doing this through:
    • Providing teaching and training in evangelism
    • Encouraging active involvement in Mission Communities
