WilliamMurray, 1st Earl of MansfieldOn Monday 27th June an exhibition will be mounted to mark the 250th anniversary of Lord Mansfield’s judgement of the Somerset Case, which laid down that there was no basis in British law for slavery; the ownership of one person by another. The exhibition will be open from 10 am to 4 pm and from 6 pm – 8 pm.

On Saturday 2nd July there will be a Coffee Morning between 10 am and 12 noon with the proceeds going to an antislavery cause.

Then on Sunday 3rd July at 6 pm there will be a special service with a focus on modern slavery in Cumbria.
